Allied Sales & Service is looking for a Laborer to join our team in La Place, LA!
As a Laborer you will be responsible for helping around the shop performing various duties, primarily assisting seal & pump technicians in the repair and rebuild of industrial pumps. This would be a great opportunity for someone who would like to build a career within our organization and learn the skills of a seal & pump technician.
Competitive Pay: This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $16.24/hr. to $19.50/hr., depending on experience and qualifications.
What You'll Do:
- Operate machinery used in the production process or assist machine operators.
- Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
- Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using hoists.
- Count finished products to determine if product orders are complete.
- Record information such as the number of products tested, meter readings, and dates and times of product production.
- Reclaims cutting and lubricating oils from machines by pumping oil from machine reservoir into barrel, dumping oil from barrel into centrifugal separator that removes metal chips and dirt from oil, and drains clean oil from separator into containers.
- Removes metal chips and shavings from surfaces of machines, using rag or air-hose, and wipe surfaces of machines with rag to remove excess oil.
- Cleans around work areas, using broom and shovel.
- Separates metal shavings, chips, and scrap materials from trash and places them in bins for sale.
- May remove burrs or excess metal from machined parts, using files, sandpaper, emery cloth, or grinding machine.
- Other duties may be assigned.
What You'll Need:
- High school diploma/GED and vocational/technical school education required.
- Valid Driver's License and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
- Experience operating forklift preferred, past certification a bonus.
- Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 60%) of job.
